John Kelly 'Skinnyboy' Chest of Drawers
John Kelly 'Skinnyboy' Chest of Drawers
Designed by American Architect John Kelly; in 1992 he introduced the J1 Series redefining traditional furniture through reduction and precision. Each piece showcases an exposed structure, practical design, and timeless craftsmanship.
-
A rare ‘Skinny boy (J-30)’ design by American architect John Kelly - the J1 Series was originally designed in 1992.
Handcrafted using mortise-and-tenon joinery, wood-on-wood slides, and walnut-pegged octagonal spindles, the drawers are lap-jointed, reinforced with walnut dowels, and feature signature inlaid walnut pulls.
Three coats of matte lacquer and a final wax finish penetrate the cherry wood and has created a durable, non-toxic surface that develops a natural patina over time.
-
Vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina. The piece has some signs of wear, including minor water marks or residue from cleaning, now partially disguised as we have repositioned the drawers. These marks remain visible in places but do not detract from its overall charm or sculptural form.
