A Weekend in London at The Spotlight Market
We’ve just had the pleasure of taking part in The Spotlight Market that takes place in Clapton, London 4 times a year. It’s always a delight to be invited by organisers Sam and Katie, themselves vintage dealers who always bring together a carefully curated mix of sellers for each event.
It’s a great opportunity for us to get down to London and meet some of our existing customers alongside meeting lots of new people. Logistically its a lot - we’ve 3 kids (and a dog) and although they’re a little older now at 15, 13 and 11 they still need some organising but its definitely worth it & whilst pretty exhausting its always a lot of fun!
After picking up the rental van on Thursday afternoon we loaded that evening. We were on the road by 5.30am on Friday morning and after a good run down we arrived at around 10.15am, got our spot outside and started unloading and setting up - no matter how organised I am in advance this part always takes longer than expected! A quick dash to the Airbnb (clean but very basic) round the corner for a shower and change before the doors opened promptly at 4pm.
I’ve got to admit its always a bit of a relief when the first sales come in and also sometimes a little hectic but still fun and reassuring that the trip is definitely worth our while!
Friday is all wrapped up by 8pm, we had a lovely meal around the corner then headed back to the Airbnb for what was actually a surprisingly good nights sleep before starting again at 10am on the Saturday. A nice steady day all round with a little more time to chat with people and the other dealers here and there which is always nice.
Then the reload begins at 5pm on Saturday - not quite as much to load back on but still a job and a half - all done and back on the road by 6.45pm heading home - although it always feels like we’ve been away for much longer! Thankfully a clear run back arriving home just before midnight and back in our comfy bed!
Sunday morning the unload begins once again before dropping the van back off, picking the dog up from kennels & returning home upon which normal Mum family duties resume!
I worked through the admin yesterday, said I was going to do a sale (wildly underestimated by time getting back on track) so I’ll be updating stories on Instagram throughout this week with offers on selected items alongside some further discounts online to clear some stock.
Thank you to those who came, bought and chatted - you made the trip thoroughly worthwhile and we hope to be down again before the end of the year.
For now early bird tickets are available for the next show on the 16th & 17th October 2026.
